Common Types of Dental Surgeries

Although oral surgery is uncommon in pediatric dental care, it is sometimes necessary to address more serious issues. Common procedures include tooth extractions, frenotomy, exposure of non-erupted teeth, and treatment for cracked or knocked-out teeth.

At All About Kids Dental, we prioritize not only your child’s surgical needs but also their emotional well-being. Our team works to make every visit as safe and comfortable as possible. We explain procedures in clear, easy-to-understand language, encourage questions, and provide reassurance throughout the process. Using the safest available sedation methods, we guide you through the options appropriate for your child’s specific procedure, ensuring both safety and peace of mind.

What to Expect

You’ll notice that in our office, we usually allow parents to stay with their kids during their procedures. We know it can be very stressful for both a child and parent when surgery is recommended. We seek to make things as comfortable and reassuring as possible for your family.

Special Needs

Many of the kids who come to our dental practice have special needs. Our doctors are experienced and prepared to treat children with all manner of physical, mental or emotional needs. The guiding principle at All About Kids Dental is to always keep your child comfortable and reinforce the idea that going to the dentist is a positive experience.

Personalized Comfort for Every Child

Every child experiences dental procedures differently, and we tailor our approach to match their needs. For some, a simple dose of local anesthesia combined with gentle care is enough to feel comfortable. Others may benefit from nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) to ease anxiety, while a few may require additional sedation to help them stay calm during oral surgery. At All About Kids Dental, we focus on making each child’s experience as safe, comfortable, and stress-free as possible.

Sedation Options

The idea of your child undergoing dental procedures can be stressful, but we make comfort and safety a top priority. In our office, we offer local anesthesia to numb the treatment area and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help your child feel relaxed and at ease. Nitrous oxide is safe, fast-acting, and never puts your child fully “to sleep.” It simply helps reduce anxiety and make dental visits more comfortable.

Experienced Staff

Due to the impermanence of “baby” teeth, the chance of your child having to go through oral surgery is particularly low. Even with that being said, you should know that our dentists and support team are highly experienced in all the procedures we offer. We use the latest techniques for delivering anesthesia safely and comfortably, ensuring your child’s visit is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
